Ben Seidman’s production entered Mills Entertainment at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. In early 2020 our live theater expert team pivoted to produce remote, interactive, live entertainment experiences delivered to audiences in the safety of their homes. Ben Seidman – Camera Tricks was a production in elevated illusionist craft in partnership among Mills Entertainment, Passport Interactive, and Ben Seidman.

Mr. Seidman’s promotional materials were meant to project and advertise a funny, innovative, live encounter reminiscent of the in-person, underground comedy club experience. I created the show logo using the Futura typeface with a subtle curve to invoke the visual cue of comedy on the large screen. This thick, bold font balanced the comedic side of his performance with a highly legible typeface that projected well on a variety of promotional asset sizes and formats. “Camera Tricks” is written in the same font to maintain consistency and legibility. I added the neon effect to conjure the aura of brick-walled basements familiar to consumers of live comedy.

I created the logo as above and placed his image in front of a brick wall to invoke the atmosphere of underground stand-up comedy. Shadow was used on his image to provide depth and separation from the background brick wall. I colored parts of the hair and body to capture the effect of stage lights reflecting the atmosphere of the brick wall onto Mr. Seidman. The image was then color corrected for an optimized match.

I created a flickering animation of the show title to highlight the neon light aesthetic and to bring movement to the promotional assets. This animated version of the title was used in assets on ticketing websites, social media, and as the welcome screen to the audience before the show began.
